Many times, when you visit a city, you are surprised by an exhibition or other outdoor activities that give a special atmosphere to its streets. And that has happened to me in Bordeaux, during my recent car trip from Cádiz to France, to end in Brittany.

On the walk we took in Bordeaux, we found an interesting Jaume Plensa outdoor exhibition, a Barcelona artist whose works occupy some of the most emblematic places in the city.

In total they are eleven sculptures of human figures, who seek a meeting point with the city and a dialogue with the population, integrating in an amazing way with the public spaces that temporarily serve as shelter.

If you don't know the work of Jaume Plensa, I will tell you that it has been characterized by its works in iron, with a zoomorphic concept of its great sculptural structures. But he has also created sets for theater and opera productions, specifically, to La Fura dels Baus.

Until October 6th, in streets and squares of Bordeaux you find female figures, and other sculptures that represent poets, music, thoughts, nature and a self-portrait, created based on steel, stone, resin, iron and bronze, which evoke memories of moments, places and people related to the life of the artist .

Three of the works exhibited in Bordeaux They have been created especially for this event influenced by the long walks of preparation and discovery used by the artist to select the works and places to exhibit.

Before Bordeaux, the monumental sculptures of Plensa have already changed the urban landscape of other cities such as Rio de Janeiro, in Brazil, and Salzburg, in Austria.

For me, discovering by chance the first work, reading about it and playing to discover the rest of the sculptures, has allowed me to know Bordeaux in a different, fun and interesting way. Worth.
