Day 5: LUCERNA - LAUTERBRUNNEN - MURREN - GENEVA AIRPORT - BARCELONA

After a night full of shocks by the cries of the other "individuals" who are staying at our hotel that looks like paper Erlebnishotel Jailhotel, we have breakfast the last buns we have left with a coffee from the machines that are in the corridors of the hotel and we go straight for the car to the parking lot to try today a second assault on the Lauterbrunnen area, where we want to visit They die in the Valley of the 72 waterfalls.

Yesterday at the end of the day in Lucerne, we had to leave the car in a covered parking lot because we were not able to find a blue zone where it was not paid at night and the white area was paid 24 hours, so we decided to go to a covered parking lot where we have paid 19 crowns for about 12 hours.
We connect our GPS and return to Lauterbrunnen, where we arrived a few minutes past 9 in the morning accompanied again by the rain in part of the road and several stops to enjoy landscapes that seem taken from a story.

Landscapes that we see on the road from Lucerne to Lauterbrunnen

As we get closer to Lauterbrunnen the sky is clearing and that little by little we are encouraged thinking that time may not give a truce at least a few hours.
We arrive at the town of Lauterbrunnen and passing the road that crosses the town, we see that the funicular station leading from Lauterbrunnen to Murren It is right there and not on the outskirts of town, as we thought yesterday, believing that we had to follow the road of the waterfalls we took yesterday.

Coffee in Lauterbrunnen

We park the car in a parking lot covered by 5.50 francs every 5 hours and go straight to the box office of the funicular station, where we pay 21.50 francs per person that entitles us to take the funicular from Lauterbrunnen to Murren in the Valley of the 72 waterfalls.

The funicular we take in Lauterbrunnen leaves us in Grütschalp, where we take a train, included in the ticket that we paid previously and that in a little more than 15 minutes leaves us at the Murren station, which is our destination today.
Once we got to They die in the Valley of the 72 waterfalls it seems possible to touch the summits on the other side of the valley.

The idea we had when we planned the route of this trip to Switzerland in 5 days was to do the journey from Murren to Lauterbrunnen on foot or if I don't go to Grütschalp, which is where the funicular is taken, but seeing that the weather is getting worse and it starts to get much colder than we expected, when it's just after 11 in the morning I decide to return to Lauterbrunnen with the Combination of more funicular train and Roger while doing the first stretch on foot, to meet in an hour and a half or so in the cafeteria of Lauterbrunnen where we were drinking coffee yesterday.

From what Roger tells me after meeting us in the cafeteria after an hour, the road is quite simple and the views it offers are practically the same as what I have seen from the train.
We believe that the weather in this area of Switzerland is a very important factor and surely if it had been sunny, we would have enjoyed it much more and even the road would have become much more pleasant.

The truth is that this area deserves a stay of a few more days and above all that it makes good weather to fully enjoy it.
Between one thing and another, when we look at the clock it is already 1 noon and almost with the right time to go to Geneva Airport, we stop at the restaurant of the Hotel Oberland, highly recommended in the forums, where we ask for a menu and a raclette plus water for 48 francs.
We say goodbye to Switzerland as tradition dictates, with a raclette.

A few minutes before 2 pm and after a short table, we go to the parking lot to pick up our car where we finally pay 6 francs for 4 hours and peak stay, we connect our GPS with the address of the Geneva Airport and we start our way back home.

We have 2 hours and a quarter of the way from Lauterbrunnen to Geneva airport, that we spent enjoying the landscape under a radiant sun that says goodbye to Switzerland in the best way, seeming to want to remind us that we have promised to return looking for sunny days.
Before arriving at the Geneva airport we pass through the gas station to fill the tank, 29.50 francs, and return it full as it was delivered yesterday in Lucerne.
A few minutes past 4 pm when we arrived at the airport parking lot, where we were 5 days ago when we arrived in Geneva, we returned the rental car in Switzerland and after taking the shuttle again we arrived at the terminal from which it leaves our flight from Geneva to Barcelona at 18.50 in the afternoon.
We spent this time commenting on the anecdotes of the trip that we have not yet completed in Switzerland and we think of possible routes for the next time we come to this country that has left us wanting more.

We arrive promptly to Barcelona airport and as always comes to our meeting Aparca & Vola, our trusted parking lot that not only takes care of our car while we are traveling, but with its premium service they bring us the car to the same Terminal2 and we do not have to worry about nothing more than calling.
