Day 7: JAISALMER - OSIYAN - JODHPUR

Monday, May 7, 2012

Today it was time to get up early again. Our alarm clock rang at 5.30 in the morning and although I slept perfectly, in the morning, just when I woke up and started to move, I began to feel fatal again with my stomach. I can't stop thinking that today we have a long car ride, which includes the visit of the Temples of Osiyan and Jodhpur.
So I have returned to the routine of half toast and nothing more for breakfast, usual in this trip to india. There are times when I am almost not hungry, but there are some in which despite having it, I am unable to put anything in my body.
It seems that I will never recover completely!
At 7 Mahendra comes to find us at the Desert Tulip Hotel & Resort and we are on our way to Osiyan, where we want to visit a couple of Temples that have recommended us and we have read that they are very good.
It took us 4 hours to arrive, along some pretty bad roads, which we are told are under construction ...
Will it always be that way and the works are part of the landscape? :))

Before going to see Osiyan TemplesWe pass by Mahendra's sister's house, where she invites us to have a coke and some pasta.
The truth is that although I have a bad stomach I can eat a couple of cookies! And they are great !!
I still feel very lazy, almost without strength and that little "snack" has made me feel great.
We are with her for more than half an hour and we are on our way to the Sachiya Mata and Mahavira Temples of Osiyan.
It takes less than 5 minutes to arrive, including the occasional traffic jam we suffer on the road.
The first temple we arrived at is Sachiya Mata, we pay 10 rupees per person and 100 per camera! What a difference between one thing and another ... But hey, you have to enter 🙂
We take off our shoes at the door and discover an impressive Jain temple.

Now we tell Mahendra to take us to the next Osiyan Temple. This is Hindu and they say he is very revered.
We have to leave the car and continue for 5 minutes walking through the streets of Osiyan until we find the entrance.
The heat starts to tighten and the forces again fail me. I notice that when I start to feel like going back to the car, I start to feel bad again.
I try to hold on and hold on, so once we get to the entrance, we take off our shoes (see that we had read what can be done on the final flight of stairs, but nothing ... we don't remember !!) and climbing stairs has saying.
The truth is that this Osiyan Temple we are less impressed than we expected and it didn't take long to visit it.

As we met Mahendra when we returned from the Mahavira Temple ... It is sold out !!

When we leave Osiyan We only have 1 hour and a half left to reach Jodhpur.
The roads are still the same as those we have had so far, but this stretch of the trip makes us more awake, trying to keep many of the details that we see through the windows of the car. We see things happen again as in a movie.
We arrive around 1 noon at our Jodhpur hotel, the Ajit Bawan Hotel.
Like the rest we have been in, it is very good and has all the services we can need these days.
After resting for a while in the room, we will eat something at the restaurant Jodhpur and neither of us can go from a sandwich and rice. The truth is that we are quite k.o. Not only through the stomach, but we have accumulated the heat that it does and the highway guard of India We have accumulated.

At 5 in the afternoon we met Mahendra to go see some cenotaphs and the market of Jodhpur and we get up by pure stubbornness, because our body is still just as bad and repeats that we stay in bed ...
But no, there we are going to know something about Jodhpur, even if it is crawling. We do not beat anyone in stubbornness.
We go to a park where there are some cenotaphs, but the truth is that we do not like them too much and with the heat that it is not the most pleasant place to be at this time.

Cenotaphs in Jodhpur

Mahendra is surprised to see us so soon back and we tell her that it is too hot, to take us to the market part, that we will surely be able to protect ourselves a little more.
We are very illusive… :)
The market area is around the Clock Tower of Jodhpur. There we stayed for a little over an hour traveling the streets up and down, mixing with the chaos, the smells, the noises and I don't know how many more things.
This is more India if possible comparing it with everything we've seen so far.
No photo, no matter how real it seems, represents what you really see ... everything is "much more" ...

After being exhausted by the heat and the ride, we ask Mahendra to take us somewhere to watch the sunset.
And we go through narrow streets ... on the way to the famous Meherangarh Fort Jodhpur.

Way to see the sunset. Jodhpur

Once we arrived we found, once again, with spectacular views of Jodhpur.
Those we had seen only in photos and we wanted to live so much. The truth is that they impress us and make us feel better at times.

It is almost 8 in the afternoon and we do not want to force ourselves more than we really know we can, so we go straight to the hotel to have another sandwich, which seems to have settled our stomachs and rest again.
At the moment, although we are not at all well, we are fulfilling the things we had programmed in this trip to india and that is what makes us go to sleep at the Ajit Bawan Hotel "happy" as we are.
Let's see tomorrow how are you ...
