Day 8: BLARNEY CASTLE - ROCK OF CASHEL - KILKENNY - (GLENDALOUGH WICKLOW) - DUBLIN AIRPORT - DUBLIN

Friday, September 9, 2011

Today we get up a little later because the first visit we have is to Blarney Castle, that we have a little more than 5 minutes by car from where we have stayed tonight.
We start after breakfast and we are the first to enter the site, one of the most anticipated visits of our travel to Ireland
We pay the entrance fee (12 euros per person) and the first thing we do is go to Blarney Castle to see the famous blarney stone, which according to legend, if you kiss her, you will have the eloquence forever.
Before arriving at Blarney Castle We are going through spectacular gardens, which had a sunny day, we would have enjoyed as the most!

Once we get up, we realize the "show" mounted around it.

A couple of men sitting on the edge of the stone. While one helps to adopt the surreal posture with which to kiss the stone, the other points with the camera and shoots so that when you go down you already have your photo ready and you will release 10 more euros ...

After a good while touring the Blarney Castle We go in search of the gardens. We fancy a bit of tranquility, since this is one of the most visited sites of Ireland and we have already started to meet many tourists.
We choose one of the trails marked on the map, which will last approximately one hour and we discover some very special corners ...

We see that time goes by very quickly and we decide that the time has come to get on our way to Cashel, where we will make the last “visit” of the day. We will enter the famous “Rock of Cashel”.
It took just over an hour to reach Rock of cashel and once there, we left the rental car in Ireland in one of the car parks, where we paid 4 euros.
After all these days paying tickets, we can ensure that in Ireland the entrances to the monuments plus the parkings to them, are totally exorbitant !!
From the parking lot we can see Rock of Cashel in the distance and we see that it is under construction.
Upon arrival at the box office, we paid 12 euros per head, although the church will not be able to visit it because it is being restored.
They tell us that we have to follow a guided tour, but the truth is that we pay little attention to this and continue quite a lot.
We remain with our mouths open to what we have in front of our eyes.
It is one of the most beautiful ruins we have ever seen.
You can not describe with words ... maybe the photos can, if only a little, show what we have seen ...

After this, it is after 1 pm and we decided to go before lunch to Kilkenny, where we will stop for a brief visit and take advantage of lunch.
After just over an hour we parked almost in the center of Kilkenny and the first thing we do is find a restaurant where we can eat.
We go straight to an Italian who recommends the guide and there we put purple pasta.
With a full stomach, we are going to take a walk around the city ...

We look at the clock and it's almost 5 in the afternoon.
We decided that it is time to head to Dublin airport, where we will leave the car, to go by bus to our accommodation for the next few days.
We were scheduled to go to Glendalough Wicklow in our travel to Ireland, but for lack of time, we decided that it is better to leave it and go directly to return the car.
It takes us almost 2 hours to get to Dublin and after leaving the rental car in Ireland at the rental offices (just outside the airport) we return with your free transfer to the Terminal!, From where we take a bus (12 euros per round trip person) that will take us very close to where we have the Dublin hotel, the Leeson Lodge House.
Almost without realizing it, we found that we planted in the hotel at almost 9 p.m., with the right time to see that the room is very correct, but that the bathroom is tiny :))
Having seen this, we leave our bags and go to dinner.
We will tour the center of Dublin. Our first night in the capital !!!
Tomorrow will be the first contact.
