The day came when we met the Semilla girls for Change: full of illusion we went there. If we already suspected that we would love the experience, we did not know to what extent the work of these small-great women would impact us ...

The story of Seed for Change begins with the story of Mary who, as many happens to us ... went on a trip through Asia, and as many happens to us ... fell in love with her, and as many happens to us ... she realized that wealth is "very badly" distributed, and as many happens to us ... he began to wonder how she could contribute her grain of seed sand to change things ... and how few happens to them: she armed herself with courage and made a decision that He changed his life and that of many others.

If it is not easy to leave everything to go to travel the world, imagine leaving everything and dedicating your life to others ... And it is that without giving much thought to the subject Maria, Cristina and all the people who dedicate their time to the seed project to Change deserve all our admiration. These girls have an admirable strength and passion. As we always say this hard work in the long run is rewarded. So seed after seed, this NGO is doing great things and we are sure it will always get better!

What does Seed for Change do?

Seed for Change focuses its work on 3 areas:

  • Comprehensive education: an educated child has a much better chance of building a better future and getting out of poverty. This program allows children to attend classes (Hindi and English), recreational and educational activities and support classes.
  • Nutrition and health: in many cases the beneficiaries are not lucky enough to be able to eat well in their homes. This is why Seed for Change completes the diet of these children with healthy and varied breakfasts and lunches. Free health checkups and medications are also offered to children and their families.
  • Economic development: This work area is dedicated to women who live in slums and who thanks to the “Marina Silk” project can dedicate themselves to painting silk scarves. These are the main projects although they are working on many others so that the people helped are more and more and in different ways.

How can you contribute your seed for change?

Very easy, there are different options to help:

  • Sponsor: With € 18 a month you can help a child have a quality education.
  • Become a member: you can support a project by donating the amount you want.
  • Make a donation: you can support a seed for the change in a timely manner, when you want and when you can ... if you are interested you can make a transfer to the BBVA account 0182-2200-14-0201660274.
  • Buy and Give solidarity scarves: that you don't know what to give to your friend, your mother, your grandmother, your neighbor, yourself? Give something nice and supportive: the scarves of Marina Silk! In this way you will make a woman who used to collect garbage in the slums earn a decent living.
  • Become a volunteer: did you always want to do it but never had the courage? Maybe the time has come. Just be clear that volunteering is a real job and requires energy, passion, dedication and time.
  • Take part in solidarity trips: you always wanted to go to India but you don't dare because you are scared / you travel alone / etc. Sign up for the solidarity trips of Seed for Change: you can meet one of the most enigmatic countries in the world and do it in a responsible way.
  • Spread: Seed for Change has an excellent blog and fb page, follow them and spread your work!

As for our day at the NGO ... after meeting María and Cristina, the children, the facilities, the women of Marina Silk, the cook (who prepared an egg curry that was to suck on her fingers ... and with potato omelette included!), a couple of Catalans Pedro and Almudena who made the visit with us, because we left super happy! People and projects like this make the world a better place 🙂

By the way ... we want to thank once again everyone who has helped us in our first Backpacking for the World project: Hector, Veronica, Jairo, Patricia, Fatima, Sabina, Gracia, Carlos and Silvia, Monica, Raquel, Vanesa thank you very much 🙂 It loves you!
