Windy Welly, the city of wind ... Here Bender "the wind master" would find the sea of good! Wellington welcomed us with his peculiar warm breath coming from the Strait of Cook as a welcome. Although we still don't know the south island of New Zealand, that wind somehow brings something from there and the desire to cross the strait is growing.

But we still have to discover this city, which is not just anybody, but neither more nor less than the capital of New Zealand. It is not long that we stay here, although enough to realize that Wellington is cool. And it is cool, especially because it has Cuba! Cuba Street is where all the trendy garitos are concentrated, a few coffees of those that do not have an equal sofa and restored old tables, exotic restaurants (including a flying burrito and a few Malaysians) and the occasional surprise.

We also had time to take a look at the Te Papa Museum, where they tell, in a quite entertaining and interactive way, the history of the country, of the Maori culture, of the past, mixed with some temporary exhibitions ... we had to approach the dinosaurs ! We even saw the first fossil of a tyrannosaurus tooth (for example) that has been found on the planet! There was also a giant squid, what an ugly bug! Well, we are not very museums, we are not going to go to church now, but since this is free and there the wind subsides ... The truth is that it was a very interesting visit.

We spent two nights here, in a place we loved, in front of a beach from where we could see the snowy mountains of the south island, across the strait. And as we have to adapt to the conditions, we took advantage of the wind to dry the megacolada we did.
We went to Wellington to say goodbye to the North Island of New Zealand (who knows how long ...) without expecting much but we found a pretty cool city, despite the wind.

Where to sleep with the free van in Wellington.
Between Wellington and the airport, along the coast road, there is a campsite called Marine Reserve Wellington where you can park for free. There is a construction bathroom, which closes at night, with a cold shower. The site is highly recommended and not far from the city.

Where there are free car parks in Wellington.
If you are going to make a one-day visit from the campsite, in Wellington you can park for free in the Brooklyn Rd area, 5 minutes walk from Cuba St. In principle it is only for two hours, but there were cars that looked like carrying Parked a long time.
