DRIVING FOR THE NINETY MILES BEACH

Although in some places it is presented as an alternative to Interstate 1 to get to Cape Reinga, on the northernmost tip of New Zealand, you have to be very crazy to get all the way along the beach! However, driving along the Ninety Miles Beach for a little while doesn't hurt anyone ...

It is a beach that lies ... in its name at least ... it is not ninety miles, in any case it is ninety kilometers! The story of its name has a cloth, it was put on by explorers who took it from end to end 3 days, and calculating that normally their horses travel a distance of 30 miles a day ... there you have it. But like formula 1, it takes a few more seconds to travel a circuit when it is in poor condition, a horse does not travel the same distance along the beach as it does through the mountain. So they made a very serious mistake! I do not forgive him!

And on the other hand it is a beach that has bad milk! Because if rental agencies in New Zealand do not cover what can happen to their cars on this beach it will be for something! There are few cases of people who stay lying in their beach adventure. We prefer to go around in a circle, so as not to end up as one of those. Besides that we have no insurance and getting us out of here would cost us a peak!

Technically, the ninety miles beach is a succession of beaches on the west side of the Auopori Peninsula, the one washed by the Tasmanian Sea. Its extensive dunes are famous where many people come to practice sandboarding. In the surroundings there are several places where you rent the board for a small fee.

USEFUL INFO

The beach begins 8 kilometers west of Kaitaia and extends for a total of 90 km, until almost the northernmost point, Cape Reinga. To access there are no restrictions, however there are several tips, among which, in addition to common sense (with temporary or high tide it is recommended not to enter) is to have a 4-wheel drive car. There is also no access fee, although it can cost you dearly if you get stuck.

There are tours that take you on a bus tour! And why not? You can also travel by bike (if you have a pair of ... wheels), by motorcycle, on a scooter ... even running or batting in the sand like a croquette ... to be able to!
