When I traveled to Malaysia alone last year I fell in love with an island: Tioman. Rober became very jealous and to show him that between this little piece of Malay paradise and I there was only platonic love, as soon as we set foot in Malaysia, I took him to meet my little island.

But apart from falling in love, what can you see and do on Tioman Island? We give you a few ideas ...

KNOW YOUR LEGEND

They say that a dragon princess was flying from China to Singapore to visit her love. While flying over Malaysia, he decided to take a dip in the crystal clear water of his sea. The bathroom felt so good that he decided to stay there forever and became an island, Tioman. The prince of Singapore stayed with two candles ...

Relax

You will have it very easy: palm trees, waves, fruit shakes ... since you are in paradise, take the opportunity to enjoy every moment.

DO SNORKELING

Tioman has an impressive underwater life, if you want to meet Nemo in person here you can do it.

BATH IN A WATERFALL

Tioman has several waterfalls although the most famous are those of Asah and especially that of Mukut.

DISCOVER THE GASTRONOMY MALAYA

Nasi lemak, mee goreng, roti, rojak, chicken rice, sate and much more ... Malaysian cuisine is one of our favorites and we bet that if the tests will make you fall in love!

ENJOY THE DAWN AND SUNSET

There are no excuses: the sunrises are at 07.00 am that is, suitable even for the laziest! And what about sunsets? One of the prettiest ever seen!

EAT AN ICE KAKANG

Ohhh what memories: a kilo of ice, syrups of flavors, fruit jellies (and even corn and sweet beans!), This typical Malay dessert must be tried, at least once in a lifetime!

DO A JUNGLE-TREKKING

There are almost no roads in Tioman although the tracks for trekking are not lacking. One of the most famous is the one that goes from Tekek to Juara (about 2h) or the one that goes from Tekek to Monkey Bay.

KNOW THE TURTLE PROJECT

If you are passionate about nature and always wanted to contribute your grain of sand, you can do so by signing up for the Turtle Project where to help and learn more about turtles ... yes! In Tioman there are turtles !! How pretty they ...

STOP WITH A GIANT Lizard

It may happen that while you walk in the direction of the beach a half-meter lizard crosses your path, do not panic ... they are vegetarians (or so they say!).

SEE THE 'TWIN PEAKS'

Without a doubt, the most beautiful Tioman postcard is obtained by looking at the 'Nenek Semukut', the twin peaks. There is even a place that maintains that the architect of the Petronas Towers was inspired here 😉 Truth or lie? What is true is that the picture is of those who take the hiccups!

USEFUL INFO

  • How to get? Look at this post to see the information.
  • Entry Rate: the entrance to the island costs 5 MYR, to which you have to add 20 MYR for the entrance to the marine park (we, “for being students” pay 15 MYR).
  • Where to sleep? It depends on your pocket and what you are looking for: on my first trip I stayed at Genting Village, a super local village (with two narrow streets) with few accommodations and a few beach bars where you can eat rice, noodles and hamburgers for a few €. I spent the night at the Aguna Resort where they took care of me a lot and that I remember with love. If your budget allows it, if you travel as a couple and want to spend a romantic holiday we recommend the Tunamaya Resort, a charming hotel where we spend 2 days in luxury! A true past place.
  • When to go?The best season is from March to October: the accommodations close during the monsoon.
