Not only do we have mochiloco syndrome, but we are infected by a serious form of “mercatiditis”: we love markets! Every time we are in a city we always end up hanging around the stalls of the local markets, and living in Barcelona we cannot not love its most famous market: that of Sant Josep, for friends “La Boquería”.

Every year millions of people visit it and today it has become one of the fundamental attractions of those who visit the city. Because we like it?

Because it is a place with soul: the sale, the hustle and bustle, the colors, the smells, the pilgrimage of the seller ... transform it into a space full of life and super entertaining. The food is not "abandoned" on cold shelves as in supermarkets, here the food is the real protagonist. Also, walking among their positions is a real local experience.

Because it is a wonder for the eyes and one delight for the palate, also in La Boqueria you can mix with the Catalan grandmothers who walk with their carts full to overflowing and with many (and I emphasize MANY) tourists who arrive from all corners of the world.

There are hundreds of stalls: they are sold from day to day products (tomatoes, zucchini, apples, meat, fish, olives ...) a delicatessen gourmets (exotic fruits and vegetables, salt flavors, mushrooms, chocolates, spices ...) and Catalan specialties.

What should I not miss? What to see and do in the Boqueria market?

- Walk for all posts (Do not go alone through the central aisle, where the most expensive and full places are, get away and discover all the corners of the Boqueria.

- Try a fruit shake (They are from € 1 but at the last minute there are usually 2 × 1… my favorite is the coconut and the lemon-mint).

- Discover curious posts like the one that sells ostrich eggs or the pinotxo bar where you can greet Juanito, the most photographed man in La Boqueria.

- There are up spicy stalls... but not rises golfillo tone! Spicy chillies & co!

- Do many Photos: La Boqueria is probably the most photogenic market in the world!

1. If you buy and do not let you choose, check the status of what you buy (sometimes it has happened that the bottom of the bag put fruit / vegetables in poor condition)…

2. If you want to see the Boqueria at its best, visit it first thing in the morning when the merchandise is fresh and overflowing.

3. If you want to find bargains, go to the last minute: there are offers and sales!
