That Japan is the paradise of each geek That boasts is not new. We are sure that our friends more nerd They will know what we are going to talk about just for the title, but for those who have a limited level of geek (or hidden = you are geek and you still don't know it) we have prepared this post with the Tokyo's best geek restaurants.

These restaurants are usually quite expensive, although the quality of the food is not worthy of a Michelin star… so why do they cost so much? What you pay for is the experience, let's say the food is not important. If you are a lover of good food, Tokyo is full of restaurants where you can binge at more affordable prices. In this post we recommend a few restaurants to eat in Tokyo. Now, let's go with the list:

One of the most famous themed restaurants in the Japanese capital, where you can dine surrounded by scenarios that will make you feel during the Edo period. As soon as you arrive a ninja will accompany you to your table through passageways. The atmosphere is cool, also between plates, the ninjas themselves will do magic tricks.

Useful information

  • How much? It is very expensive: the tasting menu goes from € 40 to € 150 per head! You can also order the menu (main courses for ¥ 1,600-3,500, from € 15).
  • Where?: 1F Akasaka Tokyu Plaza 2-14-3 Nagata-cho Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo.
  • Web: www.ninjaakasaka.com

If the ninjas don't get your attention and you prefer a place that takes you to a world of imagination and wonders ... go to Alice in a Labyrinth! Alicia fans will fall in love at first sight: detailed decoration, tables shaped like cups or poker cards, walls decorated with phrases from the book and drawings of Alice and Wonderland. The dishes are also themed and decorated with the characters / symbols of the book.

Useful information

  • How much? ¥ 600 per head and just by sitting at the table, we also understand that you should have at least one drink + one dish per person. Calculate about ¥ 4,000-6,000 per couple (€ 35-50).
  • Where?: 8-8-5 Ginza | 5F Taiyo Bldg., Chūō 104-0061.
  • Tip: If you are a fan of Alicia, we advise you to visit the rest of themed restaurants scattered around Tokyo, here you will find them all: Alice in fantasy land, Alice in fantasy book, Alice in magical land, Alice in an old castle, Alice in a dancing land and Alice in the silver screen.

You will not need to commit any crime to enter the Alcatraz prison in Tokyo, you just have to cross the doors of this theme restaurant that looks like a real (and terrifying) psychiatric hospital. If you want to drink a cocktail in a doll's head glass or eat a jelly arranged in a compress ... it's your place! Original as few, yes, do not go with children because everything revolves around fear and there are several dishes / cocktails with sexual connotations :-p

Useful information

  • How much? They charge 500 ¥ to enter. Cocktails are around ¥ 600-800, noodles or fried rice for about ¥ 600
  • Where?: 2F Harvest Bldg, 2-13-5 Dogenzaka, Shibuya-ku

Psychedelic lights, cane music, dancers and robots ... it is a mixture at least curious. But, although the Japanese are going very crazy about this show, apparently among tourists it leaves some odd complaint (it is expensive, it is not so much, it is quite shabby, etc). But if you are a geek with a lot of honor ... you can't miss it!

More than a particular restaurant, maid café are true Japanese icons (there are hundreds!) Where the waitresses are distinguished by wearing uniforms of very coquettish and childish maids. Although many may think that maid cafés have an erotic component, once you enter you will see that everything seems an unreal, childish and innocent world.

Entering a coffee maid is like participating in a role-playing game: the waitresses will take good care of you and treat you divinely, but with them you can only talk to order drinks, snacks and the bill ... forget about getting her phone number or talking about her lifetime! In fact, after the reception “Okaerinasaimase Goshujin-sama / Ojousama!", Which would be something like" Welcome my master / mistress ", they will give you a paper where you should read the regulation. It includes rules like these (among others):

  • Not have body contact.
  • Do not say goodbye giving hugs or kisses.
  • Do not deliver contacts.
  • Do not ask personal questions.
  • Do not take photos without asking permission.

As the waitresses speak, maid cafés seem almost a nursery, and it is that the Japanese, it is undeniable, are quite rare (some even pay an additional fee for the waitress to play with them to rock-paper-scissors or other children's games ).

The dishes that are served are usually decorated with children's drawings or with animal shapes, and so that you know better, the waitresses will ask all customers to sing a little song with them and make a heart with their hands ... in short, for tastes the colors!

Useful information

  • How much? In general, entering costs about ¥ 400-600 to which you must add the consumption (about ¥ 1,100 for noodle / rice dishes or about ¥ 600-800 for desserts). Drinks do not go below ¥ 500-600. A good option is to order the menus, one that includes dish + drink + souvenir photo with your favorite waitress costs 1900 ¥.
  • Where? One of the most popular neighborhoods for Maid Café is Akihabara... here you will not have trouble finding them. If you start your experience in the Maid Cafes you can do it in the famousCure Maid Cafe.

So far our recommendations ... but you know that in Tokyo there are many more themed restaurants: from vampire-friendly sites to Christian restaurants or coffee shops where everything reminds of Hello Kitty or the occasional Sanrio character ... all very, very, very kawaii Of course! :-p
