A few days ago we saw this post of Flapy and we liked it so much that we thought about stealing the idea :-p 12 photos to represent the 12 months of 2014… Ready? Here they go:

The month of January saw us enjoy the wonderful beaches of Maldives and we discover that paradise can be tailored to a backpacker! We stayed in a local island where we were the only tourists, where we packed ourselves with gulha and other specialties of the Maldivian cuisine and found that life tastes better under a palm tree!

FEBRUARY

Sri Lanka He was the star of February with its many colors: the green of the Haputale tea fields, the white of the Anuradhapura pagodas, the red of the Tissa sunsets, the blue of the Tangalle pool, but above all it had the presence of Jordi, a great friend who came to visit us from Barcelona: unforgettable night in the treehouse, dancing under the moonlight to the sound of Pitbull and Enrique Iglesias (?), the leopard who wanted to cross our path, Sun cream on all the face and laughs, lots of laughs!

MARCH

March saw us separate: after saying goodbye to Varanasi Rober, he returned to Spain for about 3 weeks while I, for the first time, traveled alone in Asia. The experience was great: I think everyone should do it (at least) once in a lifetime ... traveling alone is as if the universe conspired in my favor, and although some things happened to me "the sea of terrible" it is true that I kept crossing people who helped me, without asking for anything in return. Like this very nice man (of whom I don't even know the name!) Who works at the station Mersing selling fruit ... we talked for a while and before I left with the bus he gave me five hundred bags of fruit!

APRIL

April was a great month: we met again and… Lety's parents came to see us in Bangkok! With them we explore the ruins of Angkor, wander through Phnom Phen and return to our never-never country ...

MAY

In May our new life began in New Zealand: Very much, few programs ... we stayed 3 weeks in Auckland where we did an English course, new friends, many walks and the occasional getaway like that where we became hobbies ... New Zealand promised and much!

JUNE

June was the first month with our 'tapotupotu' van: we learned to drive on the left, get up with sunlight and sleep under the milky way, we travel to the northernmost point of the north island, we run into Maori with the tattooed face, we fell in love with fish & chips and enjoyed a lot. June was also the month of a crush ...

JULY

... crush that followed in July: the housesitting! We enjoyed this way of traveling and we were taking care of a little house with two re-cute cats (Pedro and fly) and 5 chickens (we did not know it but in the following months we would take care of a dog the sea of maja and a cat of 20 years, and also a super homemade cat and 8 sheep!). In July we published our first book and Lety started a new blogging adventure.

AUGUST

August was synonymous with Rosie, the most beautiful dog in New Zealand, was synonymous with Coromandel, one of the greenest and most beautiful areas in this part of the world, was synonymous with a lot of work (we wrote and published our London guide for first-time travelers and recidivists) but above all it was synonymous with jacuzzi: God bless you!

SEPTEMBER

In September we made our last (at the moment!) Housesitting, it was a super currant month: we started writing the book about Paris and another about India, we became experts in 'polpettone', an Italian dish that could be translated as 'albondigon' ( not suitable for vegetarians), we continued to enjoy the relaxing effects of the jacuzzi, welcomed spring-kiwi, became fans of barbecues and learned to take care of sheep ... if someone had told us a few years ago!

OCTOBER

October 2014 will be remembered for ever and ever as the month in which we survived the Tongariro trekking! All the effort was worth it to reach the summit and see the lake area: amazing (and yes, they deserved even the laces that lasted two days ... we felt like two grandparents of 120 years!).

NOVEMBER

In November it was when, after 6 months in New Zealand, we realized that at the moment we were only 'holiday visa' ... and the 'working' part? So we decided to leave the backpack for a few months and get in search of a job: the city chosen was Queenstown and the day after arriving we found curro ...

DECEMBER

And here we continue, super fucking between beds, mops, interpretations of Jairo's 'The Lion King', wateres and damn double crystals that are always dirty. Luckily we discovered the choco-café-break, that from time to time Mr muffin remembers to feed us and that in the days with luck we find pizzas, frozen chickens and beer bottles ... in the end things are not going so bad :-p

Let's see what 2015 holds for us ... but 2014 was nothing, nothing, nothing bad 🙂
Merry Christmas!
