They say that in Portugal there are more than 500 ways to prepare cod. But honestly, you put me on the “bacalhau com natas” menu and I don't need to see more. Yes, it has the small negative note of giving you 282,471,510 calories every two bites, but hey, there are many slopes in Portugal and you have to charge energy!

Although it is a typical dish of Porto, it is not difficult to find it in other parts of the country. And yes, it is another good caloric ration that you get into the body. The francesinha is a kind of Mix sandwich (but VERY mixed XD) that is prepared with white bread and stuffed with everything: ham, sausages, sausage, cheese ... and on which a fried egg is placed. Curiosity: They say that whoever invented it was inspired by the croque-monsieur, a typical dish from France (hence the name "francesinha").

Is a typical dish of the Algarve region, south of Portugal, and another of our favorite gastronomic proposals. The truth is that there are a thousand types of cataplanas, but all are prepared in the same way: the ingredients (usually seafood or fish, but it can also be meat or vegetables) they are put inside a deep pan (called cataplana, hence the name) and cooked over very low heat. It is one of the tastiest dishes to try in Portugal without a doubt.

It is one of the most beloved starters and snacks in Portugal. Here also the base ingredient is the cod (We already warn you that it is everywhere) that it crumbles and mixes with flour and aromatic herbs, to form some balls that are fried and are of death. A buñuelito Good, go.

Very typical of Lisbon and the Algarve, grilled sardines do not have much mystery ... they are a super simple dish but very, very rich. And economic!

Other quick snack, which you will easily find in bars and that goes better if you accompany it with a very cool beer. Ok, but what is bifana? Is a sandwich stuffed with pork marinated in wine, garlic and bay leaf. They are addictive and the best thing is that they are cheap: they cost between € 1-3! They are some puff pastry tarts stuffed with one cream It is prepared with egg yolk, sugar and very soft milk. They can be found on all sides (we became almost addicted to those sold by the Lidl that we had next to the apartment, for only 0.20!), But the most famous are, without a doubt, the Pastéis de Belém, which are prepared in a famous suuuuper Lisbon pastry shop.

Finally we can do nothing but recommend the most typical drink of Portugal: a good glass of Porto, a liquor, red and sweet wine, famous throughout the world.
