A list that begins with “the best ones” implies an objective character that can lead to disappointments when discovering that what is the best thing for you is a beautiful stool held on a wooden stake: bone shit punctured in a stick. So this classification depends a lot on tastes: let's say more than 10 best coffee shops in Chiang Mai They are our 10 favorite coffee shops hehe

And don't think it's so simple: in Chiang Mai good coffee shops are not lacking And if you like to have a coffee after lunch or if you want to find a place to spend a few hours working, this city is one of your paradises in Thailand.

Let us tell you a couple of things before continuing with the article:

  • In Chiang Mai there are hundreds of coffee shops and in almost all of them you will find good coffee. But they are real coffee shops, of which they have a machine, many times the coffee is made from an envelope and, although it is not so bad, a true coffee maker will probably make it crap.
  • In general the coffee is quite expensive: It costs about 40-70 baht (€ 1-2) when in Thailand you can eat (in street places or in food court) for about 40 baht (€ 1 approx).

Now yes, these are ours coffee shopsfavoritesfrom Chiang Mai:

Imagine having a coffee in Angkor… well, in Clay Studio Coffee in the Garden (mother, whose longest name) the experience is quite similar. It is a small garden full of terracotta statues hidden in the vegetation, where you can have a coffee or tea while you taste a sticky rice mango or just relax in this paradisiacal corner.

  • Prices: thai milk tea (70 baht), capuccino (60 baht), mango sticky rice (100 baht).

We discover this little jewel inadvertently on our way to our apartment, which is only 100 meters away! So we can't be happier. It is a little blue house, in a super quiet environment full of vegetation. And if you're still not convinced, there is a 3 × 2 offer, whenever we go we go out with a free coffee for another hard working afternoon * in dramatic tone *.

  • Prices: coffees and teas cost about 50-60 baht.

We love this very flirtatious cafeteria, with a clear Japanese style. It has light tones, many magazines to browse and a letter that includes coffee, tea and the occasional dessert. The staff is very friendly and is the perfect place to spend a pleasant time or where to spend a morning / afternoon of work: it has wifi and comfortable tables.

  • Prices: coffees and teas cost about 50-60 baht.

It is located in the Penguin Villa, a community of friends and artists who decided to make their “neighbors patio” a very cool meeting point, with a restaurant (El Barefoot, where they prepare homemade pizza and pasta), several small shops and this cafeteria The sea of Mona.

  • Price: They have a 150baht breakfast menu that includes eggs, bacon, sausage, bread and a hot coffee. Tea and coffee is around 50-70 baht (caramel latte is good).

It was one of the last (and best) discoveries we made in Chiang Mai. It is a very special cafeteria, not only because it has a beautiful garden where you can go to the bartola with the rest of Thai families that bring their children here, but also because it has… a pastry shop! Yes, here they make (and eat) some of the best cakes in Chiang Mai. Our advice: try the coconut cake and the strawberry cheescake, they were the first we tried and so far the best.

  • Prices: coffee between 40 and 70 baht and cakes between 65 and 85 baht.

The truth is that I had to bring Rober a little to agree to come: the plan to have a coffee surrounded by stuffed animals and teddy bears did not attract much attention, but it goes that he had a bad time ... They have a breakfast letter and quite extensive snack that includes several proposals, both sweet and savory.

  • Prices: coffee and tea range from 45 to 70 baht. Smoothies for 75 baht. To eat 120-155 baht.

It is, without a doubt, the cafeteria with the worst name ever, to see who remembers that number series! Every time we want to go we say we go to the SS12ETC cafeteria, or to the cafeteria with round windows, and that's it. Bad marketing, but great site. Honestly, coffee here is the secondary (which is also delicious): the best is the place, one of the most beautiful in Chiang Mai, colorful, full of artistic corners and ultimately, full of personality.

  • Prices: coffee and tea for about 55-80 baht, juices cost 70-90 baht. It also has a breakfast and lunch menu (120-180 baht approx).

It is a somewhat hidden cafe but very pretty. We ended up here after eating at Huen Muan Jai (check out our article on where to eat in Chiang Mai), in the same area. We only had a few cappuccinos, but if you want to have breakfast for 125 baht there is a breakfast menu that includes juice, fruit bowl, yogurt and muesli, a rice dessert with Thai cream and a croissant. No, it does not include coffee, it is a bit nonsense but good ... The atmosphere is expat: it is a good place to work and digital nomads with your computer are never missing.

  • Price: coffee and tea for 45-70 baht. Breakfast for 125 baht

Actually, the Baan Kang Wat is not a cafeteria: it is a community of artists who have joined forces and creativity to create this very, very interesting mini village. For us it is one of the great secrets of Chiang Mai. And yes, one of the places is “The Old Chiang Mai café & espresso”, a cafeteria where you can have a good coffee and try very delicious homemade cakes.

  • Price: coffee 50-70 baht and cakes about 90 baht.

You will not find a whiter coffee shop in your life! Very well decorated and with a fairly extensive menu. We tried the mocaccino and the caramel latte and both were very tasty. They also have cakes and desserts. It has two floors and usually there is always some madman of instagram taking a thousand and one photos (ahem). But the site is not cheap ...

  • Price: coffees between 65-90 baht

So far our favorite coffee shops. Ristrett8 and Librarista are also very good options (and we have others in the pipeline that we will know soon!)

These are the 10 best coffee shops in Chiang Mai, according to our tastes! And you? Do you know others? Which are your favorites?
