The gastronomy of each place is one of the aspects that we like to explore in a trip more and more (thus we are getting strong). Florence was no exception and thanks to advice from friends and to inform us a little online we put together a mini-guide to survive. The result? Great! Good food at low cost prices. Here they go 8 places and restaurants to eat cheaply in Florence.

If you want more information, visit our GUIDE TO A TRIP TO FLORENCE

Our favorite place to eat in Florence (and cheap, cheap!) Is to think of Antico Vinaio and start salivating which dog in front of a local kebabs. Being next to our accommodation became an essential stop, at the same level as Ponte Vecchio and Piazza della Signoria.

The specialty of the house is the schiacciata, a flat and crispy flatbread sandwich that is filled with the ingredients you choose (though, they already warn you that putting two types of meat is something like using a Rioja to make kalimotxo). The good thing about the place is the quality of the products: you ask them ham with mozzarella and tomato and they cut the ham at the moment and they open a new mozzarella and a tomato for you in front of your noses. They also have "house specialties" so you don't eat your head with so many alternatives.

We tried two: the porchutta and Tuscan pecorino schiacciata and the 'Boss' schiacciata that has serrano ham, Tuscan pecorino and truffle sauce. Both were delicious although the porchetta takes the cake!

The Antico Vinaio is one of the most visited places in Florence, so if you go during lunch or dinner ... get ready to stand in line! Better to visit it at less busy times. The price of all schiacciatas is € 5 regardless of the ingredients.

Traditional and authentic, hopefully there are always places like this in Florence 🙂 If you want to eat a good fiorentina there is (€ 35 per kg), but if you prefer to opt for something cheaper there are many Dishes of the day (especially first) that cost about 6-8 €. The second cost something else but remain economical. Come on, eat well, the owners are nice and the account is more than honest: super recommended! The price is around € 10-15 per person.

Another of our favorite restaurants to eat in Florence 🙂 yes, if the pijitos places are cool you better pass by: here you share a table with Tuscan old men and gluttonous Japanese (the terror of Carmen Lomana). Come if you want to try typical dishes of Tuscan cuisine in a traditional environment and at good prices. We test what many claim to be the best sandwich with lampredotto from Florence (€ 3.50) and a delicious dish of pasta with eggplant, tomato and pecorino (€ 5). By the way, do you know what the lampredotto is? Cow guts !! Prices: snacks and soups at € 3.50 and pasta between € 5-7.

Another restaurant that we recommend visiting within a market, although in this case it is the Sant'Ambrogio Market. Da Rocco, like the previous one, offers Typical dishes, tasty and at a good price, although the place is a tad more careful. A family business and very frequented. Prices: starter and side dishes at € 3.50, the first € 4.50 and the second (from meatballs to cod) € 5.50.

An entire institution in Florence, l'Brindellone has the reputation of preparing the best fiorentina from the city (a typical veal chop). Of course, if you want to try this “bocatto di cardinale"Be prepared to spend a little more than expected ... Although if you can afford it, it's worth it! The price is € 35 / Kg. Let's do calculations ... a fiorentina of 400 grams ... at € 35 a kilo ... in total € 14 although the truth is that NO ONE asks for a fiorentina of less than 1KG XD

Do you feel like pizza? Then do not hesitate and come here as it is where you can eat the best pizza in Florence 🙂 It is bought by weight (€ 2-2.70 / 100 grams) so you can order several types. It is not the cheapest pizza in the area but the ingredients are fresh and of quality. Tip: the local staff is very nice. Definitely a great option if you want to buy pizza and take a meal in a corner of Florence.

This restaurant in the Oltrarno neighborhood offers a daily menu with 12 different dishes with prices ranging from € 3 to € 12 (beware, this is ONLY at noon). Every day is different and all the proposals are delicious (including € 3 dishes that are usually starters and simple pasta dishes).

We did not go as we prefer to try both markets and enjoy the Antico Vinaio that we had in love, but the reviews we read are excellent.

And to top it off, nothing better than a good ice cream. The Gelatería dei Neri is possibly the best ice cream shop in Florence... and a step away from Antico Vinaio, so you know: once the schiacciata devours go for ice cream. The cone of a flavor costs € 1.80, the one with two flavors € 2.50. There are many flavors, from the classics to the rarest. The pistachio and raspberry are dead!
