Getting to Budapest from the airport is easy and fast: Budapest-Ferenc Liszt International Airport is just 16 km from the city. There are different ways to get to the city center, we will tell you 3:

The good thing about this bus is that it takes you to the city center, without having to change or combine with other means. Although the best is the price: it costs 900HUF (about € 3 to change). To buy the ticket you must look for the BKK (Budapest transport company) position and purchase the Airport Shuttle ticket (we understand that it is a separate ticket and that the general transport card cannot be used). The stop is at the arrivals level, between the two terminals.

It is worth it if you want to get to the center of Budapest quickly and economically (three stops ago: at the Kalvin Square, in the metro Astoria and in Deak Ferenc), although if you plan to take more transport throughout the day, we almost recommend the following option.

The bus stop is right at the airport exits and after a journey of about 25 minutes you leave at the Köbánya-Kispest metro stop (line M3). From there (it is the first stop of line 3, the blue one) you can reach any point of the city. If you need to change the line, at the Deák Ferenc tér station there is a connection to the M1 and the M2.

Eye: you will have to buy the ticket for the bus (350HUF) and the subway ticket (350HUF). Remember to ring both as you may run into one of the dreaded reviewers who mercilessly fine unsuspecting tourists.

Tip: if you arrive early a good idea is to buy at the BKK kiosk a unlimited daily transport card. Cost 1,650HUF (about € 5) and so you can use it for the bus, the subway and the other trips you will do throughout the day. To get an idea, the price of the single ticket is 350HUF (€ 1 approx.). There are also other transport passes, here you can see them all.

How to correctly validate bus or subway tickets in Budapest?

On the bus, to correctly stamp the ticket, you will have to find a red box to insert the ticket. You will see a kind of black lever on the top of the box: pull it as it serves to pierce the bill. It is the way to validate it. Do it strong, we were half broken and the reviewer almost does not accept it: S

In the subway you will have to insert the ticket into the slot of the orange box and it will automatically mark you time and date. More info here.

The taxis of Főtaxi They are a good option, if you have no budget problem or are late. Keep in mind that if you stay in the center of Budapest, the trip will cost you approximately 6,000-8,000 HUF (€ 18-25 approx). If you want to book the pick up service at the airport and transport to your hotel, you can do it here. The price is € 28.

A somewhat more profitable option are the minibuses shared (the recommended company is Minibud). Seats can be reserved and the price is reduced the more people are booked (for one the price is € 17.50, for two it is € 10.60 per person ...). The trouble is that the drivers will wait for the shuttle to fill up and you may have to wait ... something that after a plane trip, you never feel like it.
