While it is true that thanks to travel we have improved our level of English, we are still Spanish and Italian: our level is what it is! Vaaaale, I know that there is no need to generalize and that there are many, well enough, mmm some Spanish / Italian who speaks English divinely, but things are like this: most Spanish / Italian speak English very very bad!

So when we get our working holiday visas To live in New Zealand we think one thing: “this time is the good one: let's learn real english! ” And with this idea we begin our adventure of study English in Auckland in the Worldwide School of English.

We were only here for two weeks but we took many lessons, many memories and best of all: many new friends! In this post we are going to tell you the 10 things we liked most about our “back to school”.

All, all, all, from our tutor Antonella, to Cleve and Maureen, the school managers, going through the girls in the cafeteria, reception, teachers and librarians, have always been very friendly, cheerful, close, Majos, available and with a great sense of humor. And this is appreciated!

We were very lucky since all the companions that touched us were the sea of majesties with us! We were each in different classes, in Rober's there were people from Thailand, Brazil, Colombia, Korea, Japan, New Caledonia, Saudi Arabia ... and in Lety's there were from Brazil, Colombia, Japan, Thailand, Germany and another Italian!

We also met many other colleagues with whom we have practiced English, chatted in our countries and exchanged a few laughs (in English eh! Always in English!) Especially at the Pub-night! Pub-what? Keep going down that now we explain it to you ...

Every day after classes there is a different activity:

- The Monday There is football match.

- The Tuesday there is a game of touch rugby (the soft version).

- TheWednesdayIt's pub day: yuppi !!!! It is the perfect day because you have a great time and having to speak English (unless you do not meet Spanish-speakers of course or do not know English and speak Thai-Japanese-Portuguese-Arabic etc!) You will continue learning without even to realize.

We did not miss a pub-night 😛 We went to CarPark where for students there is $ 4 beer and $ 5 pizza and to Bungalow 8 where we drank some Heineken for $ 3 and took advantage of a free food buffet, great, right? ?

- The Thursday It's movie day (with free popcorn!).

- The Friday You can choose between several activities that change every week (they can be a cooking course, a visit to a nearby museum or town, learn English with songs or learn to look for work).

All activities are voluntary, although we believe they are a good way to integrate with the group and continue practicing English ... we are here for this, right?

The schedules are very good, especially since the classes start at 09.00 so it is not necessary to get up very early. In the morning it is studied from 9 to 12.15 and in the afternoon from 13.30 to 15.15. Also between class and class there are breaks from 15 to 20 minutes!

The school is very central, it is located on Anzac Ave 80 about 10 minutes walk from Queen Street, the main street of the city. But for us the location was absolutely perfect since our hostel (Jucy) was just 5 minutes away ... so in the morning we could hurry the alarm clock to the fullest!

We liked it a lot since the classes are not boring at all. In the mornings, more grammar is studied and the afternoons focus more on conversation, although throughout the day it is studied through readings, videos, talks, audios and games ... If you have heard games well: for example a few days ago we were playing "Who wants to be a millionaire" each student devising a few questions, arguing the answers and well, Lety was a couple with Iuri a Brazilian boy and "won" about $ 25,000 ... Better went to Jaqueline and Marco who won $ 1,000,000 ! The school is also one of the best in all of New Zealand, it has category A, the teachers are great !!

If you travel here with the WHV or with the student visa and you want to work... is super interesting! In these classes focused on job search they will give you the necessary tools to structure your CV, to look for work on the internet and many tips on the main jobs for students and WHV.

Each month there are also some courses focused on working in cafeterias as waiters and / or bartender: here they teach you from how to make a coffee or a cocktail to the basic vocabulary to be able to work facing the public.

School is very modern and the facilities are very cool: both the classes and the classroom where the movies and the library are seen (full of books, travel guides, audios and with about 1,000 dvd that you can rent and watch at your home!). Here you can go down to do extra hours with your learning and use one of the many computers to practice with the help program that they themselves have developed.

Although our favorite was her: the coffee shop! And I do not say it only because of the rich rich meatballs we ate there, mmm how delicious they were, if not because it is very good to have a cafeteria in the same school and also with lower prices than in the bars of the city. And to top it off on the terrace has a ping pong table: what else can you ask for?

Each Friday there are students who finish their adventure at World Wide School, so graduation ceremonies are held where they are given a diploma of accreditation. It is the moment in which the student tells his experience in all this time. The truth is very funny and emotional moments at the same time.

Last week, for example, Sultan graduated from a boy from Saudi Arabia who was studying at school for a year and a half. After his speech his teacher and classmates dedicated a fun jiji song! This Friday it was our turn and that nerves before the speech ... luckily everything went well and we already have our super diploma!

The school collaborates with two Travel agencies: Kiwiana Y Action Tours They organize excursions every week. We were able to participate in 3 different ones: the one of Hobbiton, the one of kiwi-house + Waitomo Caves, and a tour through the vineyards of the Auckland region.

Both agencies are very serious, with years of experience and fun staff. They looked after us like 2 children! We enjoy a lot and the good thing is that for the students they are very well priced.

When something ends, the best way to analyze it is to guide us through our feelings, and in this case ALL are positive: we feel comfortable at all times, we met many nice people and now we have friends from all over the world. Of course, we have improved our English, we know Auckland better and most importantly, it gives us a little bit of pain that this adventure is over, it has certainly been brief but intense!

You probably have several questions: How much does it cost to study in Auckland? How does the school work? How much time do I have to study to learn English? How can I apply for a student visa? Can I work with a student view?

In this post we will try to answer all questions!
